Why Cherry Angiomas Keep Appearing

MessageAuthor

I've been dealing with cherry angiomas for about five years now and they just keep multiplying. Started with maybe three or four and now I have at least fifteen. Is this normal? Does anyone know what actually causes these things to form in the first place? My mom has them too so I'm wondering if there's a genetic component. Just trying to understand what I'm dealing with here and if there's any way to prevent more from forming.

RE: Why Cherry Angiomas Keep Appearing

The exact cause isn't completely understood, but there does seem to be a genetic component. If your parents have them, you're more likely to develop them too. Age is another factor - they become more common as we get older, though they can appear at any age. Hormonal changes, pregnancy, certain medications, and even climate have been suggested as potential triggers, though the research is still ongoing. Unfortunately there's no proven way to prevent them from forming. The good news is they're completely benign and purely a cosmetic concern for most people.

RE: Why Cherry Angiomas Keep Appearing

I have a similar situation with them continuing to appear over time. I had about ten removed a while back and while those specific ones haven't come back, I've noticed a few new ones popping up in different areas. It seems like once you're prone to getting them, you'll probably continue to develop new ones periodically. That said, the removal process is straightforward enough that you can just address new ones as they appear if they bother you. When I was researching all this, I found this article really informative about the causes and treatment options: https://bellasanamedspa.com/blog/angioma-removal-safe-and-effective-removal - it helped me understand the whole picture better. Some people just seem to be more prone to them than others, and unfortunately there's not much we can do to prevent them entirely.
