Hitting some snags recently on my Linux audio transition...

I moved to Linux and REAPER for Linux over 5 years ago. The few Windows plugins I have used bridged since that time are ones that have no Linux equal, primarily Superior Drummer and Kontakt. From what I remember, some folks here are running Fabfilter with either Yabridge or LinVST. If there are some Windows plugins you can't find Linux equals for, just run the Windows plugin bridged. Only the ones that employ ultra nasty copy protection won't work.

Mastering music for publication is a far different beast than creating music for joy and inner satisfaction. If you have Mixbus, and their extra tools, and can't find an acceptable workflow, it's not heretical to use what you prefer. At the link below, there are some free dynamics tools among the commercial offerings, that will likely work in bridged mode, and I've not read anything negative about them over many years browsing forums: Cheers

Thanks, 4duhwinnn, appreciate the thoughts. I agree I gotta use what I gotta use, and yes, I also agree Tokyo Dawn stuff is very good (I mention Nova in my dynamic EQ thread I linked to in my OP). For those getting into dynamic EQ, it's a no brainer to try. However, as you mentioned, it needs to run in yabridge, etc... Between Nova and Pro-Q 3, I'd personally pick Pro-Q 3, but TDR Nova is a good plugin for sure. Now if Pro-Q 3 and dEQ6 don't work in yabridge, then I'd definitely use Nova. In my case, I'm reassessing my whole approach today, since there are a number of snags I keep hitting, not just dynamic EQ, which is probably best solved by using yabridge.

Voxengo Gliss EQ works also great with yabridge and is a dynamic eq. Do you know ReEQ? Could be a nice native solution for a lot of eq tasks like M/S or L/R.

Thanks, swindus, yes, I'm aware of and have used both of those. The lack of great native dynamic EQ options is not the primary issue BTW, that was just one snag among many, but that one is indeed solved with yabridge, etc., which I prefer not to run, but now I have to run it if I want to use one of my favorite dynamic EQs. Anyway, thanks to all for your thoughts! Very much appreciated!

For offline noise removal try Ocenaudio editor. For online, try Reaper's own ReaFIR, it is pretty good. Yes, they are not THE BEST THERE IS, but I think they are really good. But I feel you. If I were you (and weren't bound to real-time play), I'd have a virtual machine with Tiny11 or some other stripped down version of Windows installed on it, for those pesky final 5%. Dual booting takes too much time. You know, it is as always was: moving aside from the well-threaded path means convenience sacrificed and an increase in the need for DIY and patchy solutions. But the satisfaction of being able to solve problems yourself is irreplaceable and invaluable. :)

No worries, Subsound. I had a similar journey, although I'm a hobbyist. It may make more sense for professionals to stay where they are, and move to Linux when they retire. Recently I considered going back to Windows just to finish a few projects which I though might be easier to do there. I was wrong, windows 10 proved to be even worse than my worst nightmare. I am now happily working on one of those projects on RFL, and my workflow is faster than it was on Sonar. And my computer is under my control, not the Beast From Silicon Valley. (Poor attempt at humor; I'm not really a looney-tune). We all appreciate your contributions here, and look forward to more in the future. I have a feeling you'll be back... In the meantime, clam seas and prosperous voyaging!
