Request for Reaper's Latency screenshots- Please post

MessageAuthor

danfuerth delivers again! Of course, I'd never heard of this sync thing until now. And I'm still not sure what it means other than (I think) the two latency numbers are supposed to be the same. And apparently it only works with firewire interfaces and not USB? Talk to me danfuerth, talk to me.

RE: Request for Reaper's Latency screenshots- Please post

yes this is for Firewire so for USB this would involve some other mod. HINT : Presonus set's their USB clocks on the interfaces at 1 ms It is a new trick to get lower latencies from USB 2.0 Not sure if their trick is just software based or also hardware controller. For Firewire users this is VERY IMPORTANT!! And I have proved that this is possible I need a a day or 2 to figure out a simpler procedure to force the drivers to synch. Please understand I was going 100 miles an hour copying, overwriting, taking ownership of folders and putting the old XP firewire drivers in there, messing around with the Edirol Interface drivers blah blah blah lol So please pardon my slowness with this. If this turns out just to be an OS thing then every interface that is firewire will be synched. No interface should have an input number and a higher output number if it is firewire PERIOD!! they should be synched that is why we use firewire!!! as Firewire has the TX synched. However only the Thesycon Firewire signed drivers have those settings exposed so it is nice to see those settings all exposed. They take place of your OS default firewire driver, however I need more work on what procedures to with Thesycon firewire driver + what I did to the OS to force it to synch the firewire drivers.

My current RME HDSP9632 above. I remember the first interfaces I tried on W7 was for firewire, and they had different in/out specs in Reaper and in Sonar. I tried these interfaces on my old XP daw since I put firewire cards there too - and it was different for in/out as well. I always thought it had to do with interface actually having slower A/D than D/A or something. I tried Focusrite and TC Electronics firewire stuff then. You mean it's OS thingy? I remember Sonar had real difficulty playing VSTi clean, if I didn't set latency up at least to what highest was for 128 samples(162 or something). I tried 128 samples with audio and it was fine, but VSTi crackled. So I raised to 192 samples and VSTi was fine. So I felt Sonar had some crappy handling of VSTi that didn't handle this right. My old RME Hammerfall in XP has same in and out, but firewire stuff did not, they were different. So I gathered - different interfaces.

Since I only have my Edirol this will de difficult to test, but is someone can do the same procedures as I did with my interface would be nice to know For now though I know that Edirol Fa101 users are going to be very happy as they now have their drivers abilities back from XP and have those abilities in Windows 7 and Windows 8 as well. I have put up a post for it..
