gear box filler position d5 se

Got to change the pads and discs tomorrow and whilst i was working on the car i thought i would change the gearbox oil.....anyone give me a heads up on where the filler plug is and what size tool i need to get the buggger off :) at a guess it will be a pain to fill...any tips?? thanks all

Hi, number 2 is filling point and number 1 is drain point..after filling tighten nuts to 35Nm regards Mo sorry forgot to mention this is on your passenger side of car behind plastic splash gaurd.

I wouldnt change it at all , it is the very best Fully synthetic so will last indefinitly as volvo recommend ... Its very expensive , leave well alone .. as it has been proved to work over the last 16 years that this gearbox has been in production . If you feel flushed with cash use only the recommended Volvo part number oil . There are dual and tripple syncro rings in these boxes which need the correct oil .

Rubbish- Volvo's ploy of no-change needed has resulted in plenty of dead autoboxes. Change the oil after 5-60k or so if you drive hard or tow, and 80k if you dont. Tim..
