New ETM

MessageAuthor

If I purchase a new ETM, does it come with the wiring connected to it or do you simply use the old wiring etc. I have tried to locate where the wiring goes from my current ETM, it goes behind the inlet manifold and disappears! Anybody replaced an ETM with some tips would be great. Cheers Ian

RE: New ETM

no, the wiring doesn't come with it, it simply unplugs at the ETM

RE: New ETM

Thanks for this. I have got as far as taking the ETM body off, but the wiring, which goes into a 2-bolt secured plastic cover, does not appear to want to come away from the ETM body itselft. I took the 2 small bolts off, but it seems solid. Is is glued on? Many thanks Ian

RE: New ETM

I think you may have been misinformed. You will need to remove the ETM complete with the wiring loom back to the connection plug. On some models the wiring was routed behind the starter motor, this has to be removed to gain access. The replacement ETM wiring is routed differently. Don't cut the wiring or you will not the able to exchange the unit.
