No oil in my engine :-(

MessageAuthor

New engine/Rebuild time - It's stuffed. I'll leave it to the others to explain the basics of checking vital fluids..... Simple way to keep your 940 alive is to check your oil/fluids, very costly mistake but you won't do it again....... the Oil warning light, is actually a pressure warning light, and you should NEVER rely on "sensors" for the lifeblood of your engine. By the way, by the time the low pressure light comes on, your engine is completely stuffed.

Not much help I know, but I think the oil warning lamp only shows when you have a drop in oil pressure. Not when oil is low. Not deffinate on this, but some kind soul here will confirm either way. Good luck.

RE: No oil in my engine :-(

as above, you should never neglect the basic checks on your engine, the oil is the life blood of your motor and if neglected can cause irreparable damage, you say it took 2ltr to top up your engine so there must have been a considerable amount of oil still in the sump assuming that your engine holds + or - 5ltr of oil. How long is it since your last oil service? If it has been a long time since your last service then that will also contribute to the damage done to your engine, a very expensive lesson learnt.
